Vintage Benrus 1940's 17J Black Dial 10KGF Wrist Watch

This is an rare example of a Benrus 17 Jewel circa 1940's Manual Wind Wrist Watch. The American Benrus brand was created by Ben Lazarus, hence Benrus. The movements were better grade Swiss, and many fantastic Benrus military watches were produced including one of the most sought after military dive watches.  

The near mint back dial makes this watch look even "sharper" than the standard cream color dial. The 10K Gold Filled case is a clam shell type with a snap two-piece stem. It is in excellent with no wear through anywhere to be seen with possible exception of inside of the lugs where a previous metal band cut slightly into the case. The case is very tight and hence dirt and grime do not get in. The case is 33 mm wide (not including crown), 40 mm in length (lug to lug), a good size for a 40's watch. Dial, hands & crystal in excellent condition (please see photos). The crown has likely been replaced. 

Watch movement is a Benrus Grade BH14. The movement has been oiled, timed & tested on our watch timing machine and is running with a near flat line, meaning within a few seconds a day and with high amplitude.  

The watch has been fitted with a Kreisler lizard band.
